Job Description

Western Nevada College is recruiting for a Maintenance Repair Worker 2 for the Buildings and Grounds Department. This position will perform general building, grounds, and equipment maintenance work to repair, construct, and maintain buildings, facilities, and equipment. Under general direction, Incumbent will perform basic plumbing, carpentry, electrical, painting, grounds work, and event set up and take down.

ALL MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS HAVE BEEN WAIVED FOR THIS POSITION UNTIL JUNE 30TH, 2024.  Please refer to the link for more information: https://gov.nv.gov/Newsroom/ExecOrders/Executive-Orders/ Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.

Required Qualifications

  • This position requires one (1) year of experience performing semi-skilled work in the building and/or mechanical trades; OR

  • One year of experience as a Maintenance Repair Worker I in Nevada State service; OR

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. 

Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.

A valid Class “C” Nevada driver’s license or higher operator’s license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.

Schedule

The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday 7:00 am to 4:00 pm; this is subject to change based on organization needs.

Compensation Grade

Grade 25

The classified employee pay scale is divided into 10 steps within each grade. Most employees start at a step 1 and are eligible for an annual step increase with satisfactory performance, until they reach the maximum, step 10. Classified employees are eligible for any legislatively approved cost of living increases (COLA).
