Jr. Linux Systems Administrator

Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Jr. Linux Systems Administrator to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position is located in Kearneysville, WV (hybrid work schedule; must be local to office). The qualified applicant will become part of Peraton’s Infrastructure Managed Service (IMS) Program, for the Unites States Coast Guard (USCG). This initiative is modernizing and consolidating the engineering and operational environment under a managed service to better support the services provided to the USCG. As part of the IMS program, the System Administrator will be responsible for providing guidance across the Technical Services team, including requirements definition, design, implementation, and testing.

 

Day to Day Work Responsibilities: 

 

• Providing administration and operations and maintenance support on Linux RedHat version 6 or later.
• Providing quality services, including responsively communicating with customers, analyzing tickets to identify issues, developing proposed solutions, and resolving tickets.
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues proactively.
• Perform routine system backups and ensure data integrity.
• Assist in user account management and permissions.
• Collaborate with senior administrators to develop and document standard operating procedures.
• Participate in the evaluation and recommendation of new software and hardware solutions.
• Work on special projects and tasks as assigned by senior team members.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

 

• Bachelor's Degree with 0 years experience or 4 years with High School diploma/equivalent
• Must be a US Citizen with an active Secret security clearance
• Must have the ability to support core business hours and on-call support during non-core business hours.
• Minimum of 1 of the below certication’s is required:
  • CompTia Security+
  • CISSP
  • CISM
  • CEH
• Must have the ability to obtain DoD 8570 compliance with Information Assurance Management (IAM) Level II or higher certification upon hire

Target Salary Range

$51,000 - $82,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
