Heavy Equipment Operator
The Gravel Production Support Services team is currently seeking a motivated and dynamic professional to join our team. In this job, you will be responsible for operating a variety of heavy equipment, trucks, and semi-tractor trailers in support of Water, Gas, Electric and Wastewater construction and maintenance activities and special projects. Additionally, Heavy Equipment Operators are expected to work in a team environment and maintain a high level of safety awareness.
*Starting pay rate will be $39.30/hr. Your pay rate will increase to $41.26/hr upon successfully completing probation (typically 6 months).
Key Focus Areas:
- Heavy Equipment Operators are required to safely operate various types of heavy equipment, including Track Excavators, Wheel Loaders, Backhoe, Skid Loader, and secondary; Mobile Crane, Track Dozer, Digger Derrick, and other equipment required determined by the conditions of the task assigned
- Unique to Gravel Production Heavy Equipment Operators are required to operate heavy-duty trucks and are responsible for preparing, loading, and transporting heavy equipment, including oversize loads and materials
- Heavy Equipment Operators will navigate driveways, alleyways, high traffic roadways, and operate in tight overhead environments. Highly skilled backing maneuvers are essential to perform this job successfully
- Operate semi-truck with low boy trailer, moving large equipment with maximum weight up to 200,000 lbs
- Use extreme caution when loading and unloading equipment, so as not to damage the equipment
- Operate Class A and B vehicles with a variety of trailers, end dumps, belly dumps, and tandem trucks
- Operates Tandem and Semi-tractor transporting Non- Hazardous liquids 1500 to 9000-gallon tanker
- Inspect equipment, perform preventative maintenance on equipment, and schedule repairs
- Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned equipment and documents checks on standard DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Report.)
- Coordinating major construction projects
- Performing skilled activities in repairing utility collection, transmission and distribution systems
- Assist customers with questions and provide information
- Assist in project planning and setting up job sites
- Participate in emergency call outs
- Assist in training other operators
- Perform general labor activities as needed
Who You Are: Highly qualified candidates will have solid, demonstrated experience in the skilled and safe operation and transportation of heavy equipment; with the key being the ability to professionally and efficiently operate various types of trucks, tractor-trailers, and heavy equipment.
Utilities experience preferred.
- The successful candidate must be available to work overtime and will be subject to callouts after-hours when businees needs require
- A Class A CDL and a valid, unrestricted driver’s license are required for this role
- Tanker, Doubles, and Triples endorsements are preferred or the ability to obtain within six months of hire
