Job Description:
Duties/Responsibilities
- Engage in all clinical activities of the laboratory including, but not limited to performing physical examinations and instrument patients for 3D motion capture; assist with data collection, as needed; processing motion analysis data; preparing MSL clinical reports
- Prepare EMR patient evaluation reports/dictations and attend and actively participate in case review sessions
- Conduct and lead clinical testing of patients and other activities listed above independently
- Lead clinical examination in-services and competency testing for all applicable MSL staff
- Engage in all phases of project planning and implementation, including but not limited to assist with new study design and contribute new study ideas; collect data from MSL and EMR records; assist with RAP/IRB regulatory paperwork, as well as recruitment and consenting participants, as needed; generate data reports for statistical analysis
- Serve as a co-investigator and MSL Lead for new and/or ongoing research investigations involving human movement and performance with minimal supervision by maintain participant logs, databases and analyze, analyze and interpret all study data and results, actively participate in scientific dissemination, including presenting research findings at internal meetings, as well as, through local, regional and national conferences, drafting and editing manuscripts, writing abstracts
- Provide clinical support and interpretation of research results for MSL studies
- Maintains a leadership role in the training of new staff
- Leads supervision of interns
- Reads and appraises relevant literature
- Attends orthopedic/hospital conferences as appropriate
- Demonstrate the ability to interact with pre-schoolers, school-age children and adolescents at developmentally appropriate levels
- Cross-trained to assist in all phases of motion analysis protocols including examinations, instrument patients for evaluations and running data collection using motion analysis equipment and software
- Perform other reasonably related duties assigned by the immediate supervisor or other management
Required Skills/Abilities
- Current Texas physical therapy license (or obtained within the first X months)
- Degree in physical therapy required
- 1-4 years of experience with motion analysis required
- Experience in pediatric orthopedic and/or neurological populations required
- 1-4 years of clinical research experience preferred
