JOB SCOPE:  Responsible, as directed, for both the Federal Mogul and United Piston Rings (UPR) employees. 

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Represent the company in functions both within the plant and in the community in a manner considered to professional and in keeping with the core values of Federal Mogul
• Relations with employees and the public reflect good judgment, tact and diplomacy
• Maintain inter-departmental relationships of such quality as to promote confidence, integrity and cooperation
• Complete applicable position required training
• Continued education requirements as needed for this position
• Direct contribution to HR department goals and their attainment in an efficient and economical manner
• Assist in plant and office Human Resource activities such as employment, problem solving, safety, policy administration, working conditions, employee relations, and other various HR activities
• Assist in plant and office employment activities such as recruiting, interviewing, testing and selection of individuals for both factory and office
• Assist in administering employee fringe benefits and service programs such as group insurance, workers compensation, pension/401(k) programs, ADA, short term disability, etc.
• Assist in employee relations on a day-to-day basis, administer the employee handbook, advise supervisors in employee relations matters and resolve employee issues while ensuring that all employees are treated fairly and equitably
• Assist in investigating, advising and preparing policies affecting plant personnel with the intent of improving efficiency in every day operations
• Represent Federal Mogul before various community and government groups as directed
• Remain current with the latest labor relations and Human Resource developments such as insurance, equal opportunity and all laws relating to HR and employee rights
• Counsel employees in matters relating to job performance
• Work with Employee Involvement Coordinator to assist with employee involvement teams
• Assist in coordinating all employee training functions, in-house as well as external training, for employee career development, including assessment of the skill level of existing hourly employees and the implementation of training to reach the level required to produce a quality product in a cost effective manner.  This also involves coordinating regulatory, safety and general employee training and establishing training to enhance the supervisory skills in Manitowoc.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as necessary in the support of the Manitowoc Human Resource function

 

EDUCATION

• Bachelor Degree plus 3-5 years experience or equivalent experience

EXPERIENCE

• Minimum of 3-5 years experience working as part of a Human Resource team
• Strong HR Generalist experience
• Ability to understand the general pulse of all employees and to suggest problem solving methods that positively affect the overall working culture
