Job Description

This Accounting Instructor provides high‑quality instruction in accounting and related business areas to support student learning, skill development, and career readiness. This role includes teaching a range of accounting courses, developing inclusive learning environments, collaborating with colleagues on curriculum and assessment, and engaging with industry partners to ensure program relevance. The instructor plays a key role in preparing students for transfer pathways, entry‑level accounting roles, and professional advancement.

This position represents SCTCC’s commitment to serving its community by partnering and investing in students as they attain the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to serve the Saint Cloud and surrounding communities. Qualified candidates will demonstrate a commitment to creating an inclusive curriculum and environment where students from our community will thrive. This position is a full-time position teaching from approximately mid-August through mid-May with the option to teach a summer class. This position includes in person and online classes. Class times vary but are typically held Monday through Friday.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate student learning in undergraduate-level courses in accounting.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and students, to cultivate an inclusive, equitable, and culturally responsive learning environment.
  • Stay current with trends in accounting standards, technology, and instructional best practices.
  • Develop and deliver engaging, effective course content through lectures, hands-on activities, and real-world applications.
  • Carries out SCTCC’s Mission to “provide the education, training, and support necessary for equitable participation in our society, economy, and democracy.
  • Engage in college committees and activities in support of SCTCC’s vision to serve as “a community of learners rooted in meaningful relationships where everyone belongs and thrives.
  • Provide holistic support designed to foster student success and the development of students’ engagement in lifelong learning.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts utilizing assessment data to improve student learning by closing equity and institutional performance gaps.
  • Collaborate with faculty colleagues to build and maintain local industry partnerships.

Initial Salary Placement Range: $47,185 - $71,893

Salary dependent on qualifications of candidate (Based upon qualifications, view 2024 - 2025 MSCF Contract for additional information)

Minimum Qualifications

Education Requirement

  • Master's degree in accounting or a master's degree in any field with a minimum of 16 graduate semester credits (24 graduate quarter credits) in accounting or
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance and a CPA or CMA certificate.

Occupational Experience Requirement

  • Two full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience in accounting.

Recency Requirement

  • One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.
