Collins Aerospace is looking for a G400 Equipment Lead who will be an individual contributor reporting directly to the Program Technical Manager (PTM) and provide technically informed, proactive leadership support for all nacelle and equipment system activities for the G400 Nacelle. You will serve as the primary customer interface for all program-related technical activities in support of Equipment Qualification with a heavy emphasis on Verification & Validation. In addition, you will serve as the primary focal for the coordination of FICDs, system level and Safety of flight letter generation in support of flight testing.

  • Position will be working in an onsite capacity at our Chula Vista CA facility.

What You Will Do

  • Work closely with the G400 PTM, the System Integration leader and Certification leader to provide technical leadership for any equipment related failures or issues that may occur during qualification, engine/flight testing or in-service. 
  • Coordinate FRACAs, RCCAs, step-back reviews and other mitigations to resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Support customer satisfaction through frequent interactions via phone calls, in-person meetings and clear, concise presentations.
  • Understand Technical Compliance Requirements for both customers and Collins Aerospace; understands the need to plan for all compliance requirements and drives to completion.
  • Help develop, review and sign-off on qualification test procedures, test deviations and test reports in Teamcenter.
  • Communicate verbally, in writing and by presentations to both technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Interact with all groups interfacing with the assigned team to ensure that progress is phased effectively.  Coordinate a cross functional team through stepback reviews.
  • Interface with Suppliers  and Supply chain to manage scope.
  • Responsible to lay out engineering plans and implement them effectively.
  • Provide Continuous Improvement leadership in developing and using standardized component engineering processes, tools and templates for new product introduction, enhancing component commonality and re-use
  • Leverage lessons learned and program read across to develop engineering best practices.
  • Regularly review the status schedules to ensure that planned work accomplished and escalate any support needed through the Tier Review process.
  • Propose and execute mitigations to recover budget overruns and schedule delays.
  • Communicate and present information to internal/external senior level leadership
  • Travel up to 15% domestically and internationally when circumstances permit
  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and typically a minimum of 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. RTX will not offer sponsorship for this position
  • Experience with qualification of equipment items using RTCA DO-160G requirements
  • Experience designing and developing advanced aircraft systems
  • Experience with FAA certification to Part 25 or CS 25 regulations
  • Experience leading a team of professionals
  • Experience with Continuous Improvement Tools & Methodologies

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience designing and certifying nacelles
  • Project Lead experience
  • Experience in a customer facing role
  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, ACE or CORE
  • Global leadership experience
  • Experience working in a highly matrixed environment
  • Advanced Degree (Master’s)
  • Experience with an ERP system, SAP
