Entry-Level or Associate Metrologist

The Boeing CompanyBoeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking an Entry-Level or Associate Metrologist to join our 3D Metrology (CAMS) team in on 3rd shift in North Charleston, SC. This position will support the 787 program through the gathering and analysis of measurement data of aircraft and tools utilizing high-tech tools including laser trackers, laser scanners, laser radars, and structured light scanners. This is a role with fantastic growth potential where the ideal candidate will bring an inquisitive mindset, a hunger for knowledge, and the ability to apply that knowledge to solve complex problems.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assists in numerous tasks related to metrology measurements and analysis, including research and data collection to support cross functional teams and production, establishing technical requirements for metrology measurements, and planning the integration of new metrology techniques and measurement methods, processes, software and equipment.
- Produces accurate and repeatable measurement of production aircraft, parts and tools per the supplied documentation.
- Ability to learn about and utilize laser trackers, laser radars, photogrammetry systems, and other portable coordinate metrology equipment.
- Ability to understand 3D metrology datasets, their measurement uncertainty, and identify trends in the collected data.
- Experience using Spatial Analyzer for metrology data analysis.
- Author work documents outlining how data will be collected in a variety of measurement scenarios to document best practices.
- Follow shop 5S and housekeeping practices to maintain a clean and organized desk area and production environment
- Apply knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing to understand relationships between parts and derive tolerances to validate through measured data
- Collaborate and work productively with a variety of internal customers to understand their needs and constraints
- Ability to work independently or as a member of the team as situations required
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
- Experience in CATIA V5 and/or machining experience with the ability to learn CATIA V5
- Ability to read, understand and interpret engineering drawings.
- Experience with Microsoft Office
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with data analysis and presentation
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Familiarity with 3D metrology measurement principles and equipment
- Strong attention to detail
- 1 or more year' related work experience or a combination of education and experience

Entry-Level: $57,800- $78,200
Associate Level: $67,150- $90,850
