Position Summary

Responsible for cleaning, maintaining, and restoring various floor surfaces using appropriate equipment and cleaning methods. This role ensures safety, cleanliness, and high standards of floor appearance in educational, community, or commercial environments.

Core Responsibilities:

• Operate industrial cleaning equipment safely and effectively

• Transport cleaning supplies and move furniture as needed

• Read and follow MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets); properly label and handle cleaning chemicals

• Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when handling chemicals and machinery

• Set up warning signs for wet floors or during chemical application

• Communicate promptly with supervisors regarding issues, progress, or safety concerns

• Conduct routine inspections and report any floor damage or maintenance needs

• Maintain equipment—clean, perform minor maintenance, and report malfunctions

• Must be able to pass a background check

• High school diploma or GED (often preferred or required)

• Previous experience in custodial, janitorial, or floor care environment preferred

• Proficiency with floor cleaning equipment and methods

• Physical ability to lift, push, and carry up to 50 lbs; stand or walk for long periods

• Ability to work independently and adhere to safety protocols

• Basic communication skills in English (reading, writing, speaking)

• Willingness to work flexible hours—possibly evenings or weekends
