As Senior Director of Land Acquisitions, you will play a critical leadership role in advancing Thompson Thrift’s multifamily development objectives throughout Texas. This position is responsible for sourcing, underwriting, and facilitating land acquisitions while helping build and sustain a strong, forward-looking pipeline across major and emerging Texas markets.

Your Role as Senior Director of Land Acquisitions
The Senior Director, Land Acquisitions is focused on accomplishing the company’s annual multifamily real estate development objectives, with a primary emphasis on strengthening and expanding the Texas development pipeline. This leader works closely with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to evaluate land opportunities, oversee financial underwriting, and facilitate the creation of comprehensive capital packages for lenders and prospective investors.
This role combines market expertise, financial rigor, and team leadership to ensure Thompson Thrift maintains a disciplined, well-positioned pipeline of multifamily land opportunities across Texas.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead efforts to source, evaluate, and advance multifamily land opportunities across Texas, with a clear focus on pipeline growth
- Oversee the creation of comprehensive investor and lender financing packages for prospective development projects
- Develop and manage detailed financial pro forma investment models for both new and existing multifamily deals
- Support and, when appropriate, lead site selection efforts for new multifamily development projects
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with land brokers, landowners, and key market stakeholders throughout Texas
- Obtain and analyze market data for existing and prospective deals, including rental comps, occupancy trends, new construction activity, employment statistics, demographic data, and retail drivers
- Gather and evaluate national multifamily housing market data to inform regional strategy
- Prepare market summary reports and investment presentations for internal leadership and external capital partners
- Participate in regularly scheduled development meetings, providing strategic input and market insights
- Manage, mentor, and develop professional team members and entry-level managers within the land acquisitions function
- Support negotiation of Letters of Intent (LOIs) and Purchase Agreements to secure high-quality land positions
- Drive process improvements and underwriting consistency to support scalable growth in Texas
Our Ideal Candidate for this Role
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Real Estate, or a related field required
Experience
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in real estate financial analysis, multifamily development, or land acquisitions
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in multifamily land development or as a multifamily and/or land broker or in a comparable land-focused role
- Demonstrated experience supporting or building a forward-looking multifamily development pipeline
- Experience negotiating LOIs and Purchase Agreements
Skills & Expertise
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and financial modeling
- Experience with Argus and other real estate analyti
