This role will be to support our 3rd Shift.Sunday-Thursday 9:30 pm - 6:00 am.

Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish.

Summary:

Supervises production assemblers, in a manufacturing and assembly environment: plans and assigns work, implements policies and procedures and recommends improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions. Accountable for timely delivery of assembled product to shipping department, quality and labor absorption.

Technical Skills and Job Specific Tasks:

  • Assist teams with tracking and visually displaying measurements of quality, cost and delivery standards. Create and communicate goals. Hold daily team meetings to communicate shift and factory Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Must have some financial acumen and ability to read and maintain Excel spreadsheets.
  • Ability to use Outlook tools, maintain an electronic calendar and send emails.
  • Review status of jobs and assists teams on all shifts as necessary to ensure completion of daily schedule and meet delivery commitments. 
  • Use recognition and celebration to energize people. Develop associates and team leaders by coaching and training. Interview, hire, discipline, transfer, promote and terminate associates.
  • Assist teams with labor reporting, attendance, shipping and receiving functions, inventory management and other administrative requirements.
  • Communicate overtime to team.
  • Attend Production Meetings.
  • Basic knowledge of metal fabrication. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Act as factory liaison with Product Engineering, Systems Engineering, Purchasing, Production Scheduling, Information Tech. and Sales personnel.
  • Continually improve all equipment and production line utilization. Assist teams in ordering spare-parts and repairs.
  • Promote through action and example a safe, clean and orderly work environment. Ensure compliance to safety rules. Continually train safe work habits, attend Safety Meetings as required.
  • Maintain quality standards and seek to improve the overall quality level of the product. Implement and maintain work instructions and job instructions. Update Quality database system and take appropriate action training team.
  • Pursue cost reduction and process improvement projects to improve productivity and eliminate waste. Involve associates in the improvement process.
  • Support and enforce work rules, company policies and company procedures.
  • Partner with Purchasing and outside suppliers to reduce costs, cycle time and improve material delivery. Assist teams in ordering supplies and services as required.
  • Contribute ideas and work to accomplish personal goals and Fortna operating plan. Maintain a bias for action and results.
  • Work closely with Human Resources on labor needs, payroll and discipline.
  • Become fluent with internal database systems (MRP/Navision/Power BI).
  • Demonstrate and apply knowledge of Lean Production Systems, Push/Pull and 5S.

                                   

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree; major in supply chain, engineering, logistics, operations management or equivalent work experience.  Associates degree, appropriate military experience and/or technical training maybe sufficient.
  • 3+ years relevant work experience in manufacturing supervision and/or supply chain management.
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish.
  • Thorough understanding of Lean management practices in a manufacturing environment and kanban system
