JOB SUMMARY:

The Enterprise System Administrator is responsible for the strategic design, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of the organization’s server infrastructure, Storage Area Networks (SANs), and both local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs), along with telecom systems. This role involves advanced systems and network modeling, analysis, and capacity planning. The individual will collaborate closely with the Enterprise Systems Architect and Team Lead to assess, design, and recommend optimal server, network, and data communications hardware and software solutions, while also ensuring the security and integrity of the network infrastructure. Additionally, the Systems Administrator II will provide support for applications managed on the servers, ensuring seamless performance and operational continuity. Reporting directly to the Chief Information Officer (CIO), this position is critical to supporting the organization’s technological growth, maintaining infrastructure stability, and optimizing the performance of business-critical applications.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Monitor, configure, and maintain servers and client machines: Ensure timely updates to software and operating systems for optimal performance and security.
  • Oversee server and application-level backups: Maintain backup infrastructure to ensure data protection and disaster recovery readiness, performing regular integrity checks and testing.
  • Provide support and maintenance for infrastructure: Manage and maintain a large, enterprise-wide Microsoft, Juniper infrastructure, ensuring its continuous operation and performance.
  • Optimize network server operations: Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues related to services such as DHCP, DNS, O365, Active Directory, Entra, File Shares, SQL, SharePoint, and other Microsoft technologies.
  • Implement security controls: Apply and enforce security measures to protect network infrastructure, applications, and data, ensuring compliance with best practices and organizational policies.
  • Maintain network and security-related documentation: Keep accurate and up-to-date records, including architectural diagrams, configurations, and security protocols, to ensure transparency and compliance.
  • Collaborate with staff and clients: Understand and gather specific system requirements, offering tailored solutions that align with business needs and IT goals.
  • Provide guidance on project costs and design concepts: Advise on project feasibility, cost analysis, design changes, and technology solutions to meet organizational objectives.
  • Document design specifications and system details: Create clear documentation for system architecture, installation procedures, and operational workflows to facilitate maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Verify system stability and scalability: Ensure the systems’ stability, security, and scalability, making necessary adjustments to support future growth and business needs.
  • Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support: Offer expert support for the development, integration, or troubleshooting of systems, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Establish guidelines for secure system implementation: Help business partners within IT understand and implement secure practices for new and existing systems.
  • Proactively monitor system operations: Detect potential issues or inefficiencies early, ensuring corrective action is taken to maintain system reliability and security.
  • Develop and implement automation and scripting: Utilize tools like PowerShell to automate administrative tasks, improve operational efficiency, and reduce manual intervention.
  • Conduct system performance monitoring and tuning: Continuously monitor, analyze, and optimize system performance, addressing bottlenecks or resource constraints to improve reliability and speed.
  • Collaborate in disaster recovery planning and testing: Participate in the creation and regular testing of disaster recovery plans to ensure the organization’s ability to recover from failures swiftly and efficiently.
  • Patch management and vulnerability remediation: Ensure timely application of patches to all system components and lead vulnerability remediation efforts to maintain a secure environment.
