About the role:

As a Mainframe Software Engineer, you could work with bleeding edge technology as you build innovative fintech products that change the way the world pays, banks and invests. This will involve developing core versions of software applications, identifying client requirements and technical specifications, interacting with engineering groups and training clients on applications.

About the team:

FIS Regional Community Banking provides our clients tools to process all aspects of banking.  Our agile team consists host and front end software engineers and software test analysts as well as product owners and agile coaches.  Primary responsibility is providing solutions for application defects, regulatory updates and requested enhancements.  We are looking for talented resources to be part of the dynamic team that will grow with the Regional Community Banking team. 

What you will be doing:

• Conduct code-level software analyses to identify root cause of bugs and/or application defect modifications as needed.
• Develops and executes scripts, utilities and associated test plans. Scripts may modify data that is not updateable via user interface.
• Interfaces with internal clients, vendors, managers, IT and Product Development to research and determine resolution of application defects.
• Analyzes problem, documents and communicates resolution and conducts follow up. Escalates problems to appropriate teams when necessary.
• Represents team on cross-functional teams for production, support and development activities.
• Interacts with internal departments to deliver bug fixes for production installation.
• Interprets and presents data and conclusions to management as needed.

What you will need:


Bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information systems, business administration or other related discipline or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience. Experience in one or more of the following disciplines: software development, mainframe processing, or UI processing.

Added bonus if you have:

• Knowledge of the basic principles, processes, phases and roles of application development methodologies
• Knowledge of a wide range of interface design, development and debugging tools, techniques and methodologies
• Knowledge of programming languages (COBOL/JCL)
• Knowledge of database engines (DB2/CICS)
• Knowledge of core banking principles and processes

• Demonstrated knowledge of company products and services (banking core processing)
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and time management skills
• Ability to successfully manage multiple concurrent tasks
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to technical and non-technical audiences of various levels in the organization, e.g., executive, management, individual contributors
• Ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment
• Ability to work independently and intuitive ability to prioritize assignments
• Must be dependable and able to meet and fulfill obligations
• Excellent customer service skills that build high levels of customer satisfaction for internal customers.
• Willingly shares relevant technical and/or industry knowledge and expertise with other resources
• Must be highly flexible and adapt to changing priorities
• Must be detail-oriented and thorough in completing tasks
• Willing to take on responsibilities and challenges

FIS is committed to providing its employees with an exciting career opportunity and competitive compensation. The pay range for this full-time position is $125,850.00 - $211,410.00 and reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position based on the posted role, level, and location. Within the range, actual individual starting pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
