Job Overview

Under the supervision of the Executive Director, Capitol Campus Event Management & Scheduling, the Senior Event Coordinator plans and executes various mid- and high-level events in support of the University’s mission, and provides assistance to other staff members in the OEM for larger, more complex events happening both on the Capitol Campus and at locations off site. The senior event coordinator creates and manages event budgets, produces timelines, and works with the event sponsor on all aspects of the program. Additional responsibilities for this position now include Law Commencement planning. Since the change in the Commencement schedule to include three days of events (two Celebration Days on the Law Campus and the formal Commencement ceremony on the Hilltop), the event management piece is more complex and requires a sustained focus to ensure that we have enough staff volunteers to cover the entire weekend. The senior event coordinator also manages an array of events including conferences, symposia, faculty events, Capitol Campus orientation, Law Reunion and a wide variety of receptions, dinners and special events.

Work Interactions

This position reports directly to the Executive Director, Capitol Campus Event Management & Scheduling. The senior event coordinator provides leadership and guidance to the event coordinator and the event assistant and supports other members of the events team as needed under the direction of the Executive Director. As indicated above, this position is an integral part of the overall operations in special events. The person in this position will both work independently on numerous events and will support other team members as needed on a myriad of other large scale events.
