Job Summary:

JOB SUMMARY
Applies the nursing process to plan and implement the care of patients, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning. Effectively communicates pertinent patient/family information to the health care team. Collaborates in establishing patient goals and evaluates progress to ensure effective outcomes. Furthers professional growth by engaging in learning activities according to the Board of Nursing standards.

Department Summary:
Vanderbilt Medical Group (VMG) Staffing Operations mission is to support ambulatory clinics by providing adaptable, knowledgeable, highly skilled, and exceptional patient care.

VMG Staffing Operations provides float support to many different specialties including Neurology, Cardiology, Gastrointestinal, Medical Specialties, Primary Care, Cancer, Urology, General Surgery, Women’s Health, Dermatology, Orthopedics, Otolaryngology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Pulmonary, and Transplant clinics.

The VMG Staffing Operations team supports clinics on VUMC’s main campus, One Hundred Oaks, Franklin, Brentwood, and other surrounding areas.

VMG Staffing Operations nurses have the opportunity to develop their knowledge and skillset with communication, active listening, assessment, critical thinking, and hands-on skills such as wound care or infusions. In addition, float nurses are able to participate in interprofessional collaboration with the healthcare team to promote positive patient outcomes.

VMG Staffing Operations provides supplemental staffing to ensure quality patient care and support other clinic colleagues. VMG Staffing Leadership encourages professional advancement, certifications, and other continuing education opportunities.

VMG Staffing Leadership values job performance and the emotional, physical, and mental well-being of their staff. Nurses are provided with orientation and continued educational resources.

Nurses are eligible for a float differential pay.

Flexibility:
Float pool nurses need to be flexible and able to be placed where the need is greatest.

Hours:
• Day Shift
• The candidate selected will work five 8-hour shifts or four 9-hour shifts per week.
• Clinics closed on Saturday/Sunday
• No holiday requirements

Signing Bonus Requirements:
The signing bonus is not applicable to current Vanderbilt Health staff or former staff who have worked for Vanderbilt Health in the past twelve months. The signing bonus is only available for Full-Time positions.

The signing bonus is paid out in two installments. You will be eligible for a taxable signing bonus of $15,000.00 paid to you with half ($7,500) at three months of employment and the other half ($7,500) paid to you at 1 year of service.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Collaborates in establishing the plan of care, coordinates and implements care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the continuum.
• Analyzes comprehensive information pertinent to the patient's care and management to determine nursing diagnosis.
• Continually utilizes the nursing process to evaluate patient's progress towards goals and applies appropriate interventions to ensure effective outcomes.
• Employs strategies to promote health and a safe and healthy environment.

TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES
• Nursing Patient Assessment & Evaluation (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate the ability to assess and evaluate patients in practical applications of moderate difficulty. Conducts primary care patient interviews and physical examinations. Demonstrates sufficient acumen to recognize problems, ask questions and to contact the patient's primary care provider and other members of the healthcare team. Has experience in gathering pertinent clinical data that
