A Day in the Life
The Medtronic Tempe Campus in Arizona is looking for an Engineering Program Manager to join the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) team. This person will manage the execution of work for developing new equipment and manufacturing technologies for wafer-scale products, and will drive the deployment of project management systems and standard work to enable functional excellence.
In this role, you’ll oversee critical projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams and internal / external stakeholders to execute on deliverables, influence outcomes, and drive creative solutions to achieving milestones. These projects will span both new product development and continuous improvement of released products.
As a key leader, you will guide teams to ensure the successful delivery of manufacturing solutions, manage schedules to meet project timelines, and align capital spending with financial forecasts. You’ll also play a pivotal role in mentoring personnel to sustain excellence within project execution at the site.
A Day In The Life
The Engineering Program Manager will be responsible for managing the execution of work on complex and critical equipment and process development projects, supporting new product development and continuous improvement of released products. They will also be responsible for helping to develop systems to manage and monitor the work and for leading forums to review progress.
This will include leading cross-site, cross-functional teams, creating development schedules and managing the execution of work to meet timelines. There will be functional excellence projects aimed at improving the organization’s operational excellence and job mastery. Other functional excellence responsibilities will include developing standard work for project management, including metrics and dashboards to monitor progress.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
- Plan, direct and implement all aspects of critical projects support new equipment and technology development.
- Lead or leverage cross functional teams to evaluate, develop and manage projects
- Review status of projects and budgets; manage schedules and prepare status reports
- Assess project risks and develop mitigations to meet productivity, quality, and customer goals and objectives.
- Develop mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving
- Support and drive a culture of open communication, collaboration and ethical behavior
- Set team performance expectations and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and drive accountability that aligns with organizational strategy to deliver on business and project goals
- Monitor team performance and implement standards, metrics and systems to improve operational excellence
- Develop and manage schedules and systems to monitor progress of process development projects
- Communicate with internal and external stakeholders on project progress, risks and needs
- Support and drive a culture of DRM and significant technical rigor
- Work closely with Product Development teams, Manufacturing Operations and business partners to drive and integrate DRM principles resulting in robust processes
- Work closely with Manufacturing Operations teams to ensure voice of customer and operations needs are met before transfer to manufacturing.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in in Engineering, Science or technical field is required
- 5+ years of relevant experience or advanced degree with a minimum of 3+ years prior relevant experienc
