About the role

Description

SUMMARY:

The Consultant, Special Education directly reports to the Director, Special Education Solutions and will be responsible for developing and providing high quality products and services to internal and external stakeholders and partnership organizations. The Consultant, Special Education is primarily responsible for providing leadership, professional development and instructional coaching to districts on Student Services and Special Education related topics, as these topics relate to curriculum, instruction, assessment, standards, organization, and culture.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


  • Develop, promote, and deliver high-quality, timely professional development and coaching consistent with stakeholder’s goals.
  • Build relationships and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.
  • Gather, organize, analyze, and utilize data to effectively determine customer and department needs and to formulate solutions. 
  • Attend appropriate training, meetings, workshops, and in-services.
  • Serve as an online influencer for the Special Education Center.
  • Generate quality content modules using best practices for online learning.
  • Utilize department protocol for the management of the invoice process.
  • Demonstrate aptitude in the promotion of products and services.
  • Contribute to progress monitoring the department Plan on a Page in alignment with an individual Plan on a Page (strategic).
  • Maintain current knowledge regarding new state and federal regulations (Chapter 115 and IDEA).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


OTHER FUNCTIONS:

  • Take responsibility for professional growth based on feedback, research and best practice.



Requirements

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:


Experience, Education and Licensure:

  • Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership or related field is preferred
  • Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) license in a Special Education or Student Services area is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in licensed area and leadership roles.
