Food Service Worker - Per Diem
Shift: Variable, 8 hour shifts
The ideal candidate has experience in food service, preferably in hospital setting, and possesses a ServSafe Certification.
Job Description:
PATIENT POPULATION:
The patient population served can be all patients, including geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric, and newborn. This also includes services which affect facility staff, physicians, visitors, vendors and the general public.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the general direction of the Food and Nutrition Service Director, the Food Service Worker functions in a variety of areas including the dish-room, food production, patient and/or retail food service.
Must be able to work normal/scheduled working hours to include Holidays, call-backs, weeknights, weekends, and on-call. Agrees to participate, as directed, in emergencies and community disasters during scheduled and unscheduled hours. As a designated disaster service worker you are required to assist in times of need pursuant to the California Emergency Services Act.

Ability to calculate simple mathematical problems. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form."

Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
*Indicates Essential Function
1 * Ensures compliance with infection control guidelines. Cleans all areas of department as required.
2 * Operates dish machine and three-part sink area according to instructions. Monitors and records temperature and chemical levels for dish washing, café and other assigned Food Service areas.
3 * Assembles patient trays as scheduled on tray-line; delivers and retrieves patient trays and late trays as necessary. Documents food/fluid intake in electronic medical record.
4 * Accurately operates cash resister and reconciles bank. Ensures appearance of café is clean, coordinates all food items, and ensures availability according to established guidelines.
5 * Processes, organizes & implements all scheduled catered events. Works closely with Lead staff for planning menus. Prepares all cold items served for catering. Assembles courtesy carts, restocks non patient areas and cleans all liquid coffee machines.
6 * Ensures portions of all food items are correct, utilizing recipes appropriately and measuring utensils.
7 Manages time effectively to meet patient and department workload.
