Job Details:

Purpose

Play a role in advancing and improving internally developed systems vital to Applied Research Laboratories’ business operations. Analyze, design, develop, implement, document, and maintain enterprise applications across all ARL business areas.

Ideal candidates will be smart problem solvers with a passion for resolving technical challenges within complex systems through strong programming, analysis, and interpersonal communication skills. Interested developers should have dynamic skill sets with an eagerness to learn while balancing multiple priorities and supporting a work/life balance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop performant, reliable, testable and maintainable code for business information systems.

  • Participating in all aspects of software development life cycle, including design, coding, code review, testing, bug fixing, and code/API documentation.

  • Collaborate with other software engineers and participate in stand ups and client meetings.

  • Research solutions to client questions about data, reports, applications and identified bugs.

  • Other related functions as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent degree.

  • 6 months of full-time programming experience. Experience must be both recent and relevant with the ability to demonstrate hands-on knowledge in systems design, analysis and coding. 

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and with sensitive and confidential information, maintain a professional demeanor, work as a team member without daily supervision, and effectively communicate with all groups of clients. 

  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

US Citizen. Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information at the level appropriate to the project requirements of the position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional experience in required areas. 

  • Expertise in developing and maintaining business information systems like HR, Accounting, Purchasing, etc.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of design, development, and testing of custom applications.

  • One or more years of experience developing applications and web pages using HTML5, Python/PHP/Ruby/Java, and JavaScript.

  • Experience using Oracle APEX as an application development framework.

  • One or more years of experience programming in SQL including writing database functions, procedures, and packages.

  • Experience developing reports using Information Builders’ WebFOCUS software. 

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.

Salary Range

$70,000-$75,000+/negotiable depending
