Control & Diagnostic Systems (CDS) is a dynamic engineering organization focused on the development and certification of military, commercial and industrial gas turbine engine control and diagnostic systems.
CDS is responsible for all aspects of Pratt & Whitney engine control and diagnostic system development, including requirements analysis & definition, system & software architecture, algorithm design, and product software design, verification & validation. We integrate the control and diagnostic system design across other engine system modules and with the air vehicles and provide support throughout the complete engine product life cycle.
The Diagnostics, Prognostics and Health Management (DPHM) discipline within CDS is responsible for the development and deployment of cutting-edge data acquisition systems, diagnostics, prognostics, and analytics. This includes Usage Based Lifing (UBL) for P&W engines and components and deploying state of the art development tools & methodologies.
What You Will Do
- The Data & Platforms software engineer will be responsible for developing cloud-based, big data processing applications and other engineering support tools that are cutting edge for the aerospace industry.
- As part of a large engineering organization, you will have a deep understanding of flight data and use cases for its analysis, and develop functional software to support a wide range of needs.
- You will work within a dynamic, Agile team and consistently interface with groups of internal and external customers to understand needs and translate requirements to functional software to support them.
- Develop distributed big data applications to support a wide variety of flight data analysis needs across a large engineering organization.
- Develop well-designed front-end clients to interface with complex flight databases hosted in the cloud.
- Take requirements from a large user base and translate them into functional software that supports those needs.
- Engage in the development of flight data analytics designed to support fleets of military engine programs.
What You Will Learn
- This role will give you exposure to a wide variety of engineering challenges. You will be involved in a critical role for Pratt & Whitney’s military engine programs.
- This position is a part of our Engineering Development Program (EDP). EDP participants will complete three to four assignments to build technical breadth and leadership abilities before graduating from the program.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) or related field.
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
