HOURS OF WORK: Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 
LOCATION: 825 L Street


Employees who are hired or rehired to any position shall be placed at the entrance pay step, and advancement from the entrance step to the maximum step within a pay grade shall be by successive steps.

Examples of duties

As Program Manager of Emergency Response and Preparedness, this position is responsible for overseeing the Public Health Emergency Preparedness (PHEP) grant, including program planning, management, and financial oversight of both state and local EP program budgets. Directly supervises the Emergency Preparedness Team, who are responsible for a range of department activities, including developing and maintaining the Federal Strategic National Stockpile/Cities Readiness Initiative Program. This includes managing exercise budgets, providing technical guidance on planning, research, project implementation, and inventory control of program-related supplies, equipment, and facility needs. Supervision involves scheduling, task assignment, and performance evaluations of staff.

The Anchorage Health Department (AHD) engages in the State of Alaska Department of Health and Social Services (AHD) emergency responses and the federal Incident Command System (ICS). This includes training exercises as part of the AHD's Crisis Health Action Team (CHAT) and municipal Emergency Operations Center (EOC). In the case of a natural or manmade disaster, AHD employees may be called to engage in emergency operations responses and recovery.

Qualifications

High school diploma, GED or equivalent and eight (8) years of experience in the field related to the position. 

OR

Associate’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Resources, Purchasing, Computer Information Systems, Finance or similar discipline and six (6) years of experience in the field related to the position. 

OR

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Resources, Purchasing, Computer Information Systems, Finance or similar discipline and four (4) years of experience in the field related to the position. 

OR

Master’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Resources, Purchasing, Computer Information Systems, Finance or similar discipline and two (2) years of experience in the field related to the position. 


A valid State of Alaska Driver’s License with satisfactory driving record at time of hire.

Preferences:
CPR and First Aid,
FEMA Incident Command System Certifications (ICS 100, 300, 400 & 700 Certificates of completion)
