Job Description:

The VP of Perioperative and Procedural Operations serves as a crucial link between diverse organizational functions, the Executive Leadership of OU Health (OUH) to support the mission, vision and values of OUH.  The VP, Perioperative aligns and cascades organizational goals to the departments of oversight ensuring that strategic and operational efforts support the provision of safe, quality and productive, cost-effective care to our patients while working in partnership with our physician workforce to ensure efficient and effective processes are achieved to support optimal patient outcomes and experience.

 

Directly reporting to Executive Leadership, the VP, Perioperative aids in the development and execution of operational plans required for achievement of enterprise-wide perioperative and procedural services strategies which are congruent with the mission, vision, values and strategic goals of the enterprise. This will be accomplished by leading within the structure and framework of accountability and sustainability set forth by OU Health Leadership in order to effectively communicate, collaborate, and engage a team of stakeholders; identifying key performance indicators and ensuring their alignment with metrics focused on quality, safety, experience, and efficiencies; executing on a quality improvement plan that ensures the best outcomes through performance-improvement activities; optimizing the use of information systems and technology and ensuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements.

  • OU Health enterprise-wide responsibility for directing assigned areas of operation, tactics supporting the OU Health system strategies, policies and procedures, budget process, project implementations, human resource management and committee representation.
  • Responsible for collaboration with physicians, leadership, OU Health colleagues, and community stakeholders in developing goals and objectives for meeting the outcomes goals of OU Health and ensuring ongoing communication and partnership across site leadership teams and services.
  • Responsible for ensuring Perioperative and Procedural services consistency and compliance and other regulatory standards, implementing and monitoring financial controls to ensure effective utilization of resources through budgeting and analysis of management reports, development of staff and services, as well as organizational performance improvement, quality management, evidence-based outcome and setting the communication tone, values and culture of OU Health.
  • Responsible for ensuring development and enforcement of all applicable policies, standards and regulations related to assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Responsible for the implementation of process improvement initiatives and creation of an environment that places an emphasis on continuous monitoring and improvement within the assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Establishes operational plan for areas of responsibility that supports the overall goals and strategies of Adult Services and OU Health as a whole.

Primary areas of responsibility are as follows while also serving as a content expert and support for all procedural care across OU Health:

  • Perioperative Services, inclusive of surgical, pre-operative, post-anesthesia and post-operative departments
  • Sterile Processing departments
  • Invasive Cardiology
  • Interventional Radiology and Radiology Nursing
  • Endoscopy Services
  • Invasive Pulmonary Services

Leadership & Strategy

  • In collaboration with the site and enterprise executive leadership teams, drive the growth, development, and management of Perioperative services.
