FACILITIES
Rocket Lab’s Facilities team is responsible for maintenance, operations, and improvements projects across our locations, making sure that the facilities our teams use every day are well looked after and operating as they should.
FACILITIES TECHNICIAN II/SENIOR
Based onsite at Rocket Lab in Long Beach, California, the Facilities Technician is responsible for facilities maintenance, operations, and improvement projects at Rocket Lab's headquarter facility and Rocket Lab’s Engine Development Center.
(Please note: this position can be hired at the Facilities Technician II or Senior Facilities Technician level)
WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO:
- Handle Rocket Lab headquarters and/or the Engine Development Center facility operations as primary responsibility, including janitorial, maintenance, repair, and update/upgrade activities.
- Responsible for all building systems including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, safety, and waste management.
- Ensure facilities maintenance work follows safety standards, conforms to specifications, and that work orders are tracked and completed within the budgeted guidelines.
- Manages facilities and equipment breakdown ticketing system (JIRA) and set priorities for resolution.
- Will handle hazardous waste streams in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Responsible for Rocket Lab headquarters and/or the Engine Development Center Equipment Engineering, including equipment maintenance, repair, and update/upgrade activities, planning, procurement, installation and (de)commissioning of equipment to ensure equipment uptime and reliability in safe conditions.
- Responsible for oversight & maintenance of the Rocket Lab headquarters and/or the Engine Development Center facility and building & manufacturing infrastructure therein, adherence to and enforcement of site safety, security and cleanliness requirements.
YOU’LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS AS A FACILITIES TECHNICIAN II:
- 5+ years of facility maintenance experience in any of the following industries: aerospace, automotive, medical device, or a heavily regulated manufacturing facility.
- High School Diploma, GED OR 9+ years of experience in facilities maintenance in lieu of diploma.
- Experience with facilities systems and improvement projects.
YOU’LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS AS A SENIOR FACILITIES TECHNICIAN:
- 8+ years of facility maintenance experience in any of the following industries: aerospace, automotive, medical device, or a heavily regulated manufacturing facility.
- High School Diploma, GED OR 12+ years of experience in facilities maintenance in lieu of diploma.
- Experience with facilities systems and improvement projects
THESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related subject area.
- Experience with managing cleanroom.
- Capable of solving complex problems with little to no supervision in a timely manner.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to remain focused while working in hazardous environments, while wearing appropriate PPE

Standing for long periods of time, climbing up and down ladders, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and stretching may be required to perform the functions of this position

Able to lift up to 25lbs. unassisted

Must be able to climb ladders and be comfortable working in tight spaces.

Must be able to move repetitively, bend or twist, and use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls.
