Responsibilities
Peraton is seeking a Senior Oracle GoldenGate Database Administrator (“OGG DBA”) to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals. The Senior OGG DBA will be a member of the Department of State (DOS) Consular Affairs Enterprise Infrastructure Operations (CAEIO) Program for the Bureau of Consular Affairs (CA). The CAEIO Program provides IT Operations and Maintenance to modernize the legacy networks, applications, and databases supporting CA services globally.
Overview
The OGG DBA implements and optimizes the computerized database systems that support the client's ability to function daily. The OGG DBA also implements Oracle GoldenGate for Bidirectional Data replication to integrate on-prem Oracle databases in a 24x7 global operation; conducts performance tuning of indexes and databases in general; reviews database design and integration of systems, provides backup recovery and makes recommendations regarding enhancements and/or improvements. Maintains security and integrity controls; formulates policies, procedures, and standards related to database management, and monitors transaction activity and utilization. The OGG DBA may develop stored procedures and/or triggers, develop and enforce database administration, user standards and procedures, audit, modify, and amend data in systems using SQL and PL/SQL commands.
The OGG DBA will oversee scheduling database projects, database and transaction log backups, notifications, and database replication between multiple Oracle RDBMS Servers and remote sites, as well as administer the critical Oracle Exadata Engineering Systems, and ZDLRA Engineering backup systems. The OGG DBA will also review technical designs, reports, documentation, and other materials produced by staff, as well as create, automate, and maintain high-level reporting systems using products such as Oracle BI publisher with OMS and WebLogic; research and implement new databases and online technology.CAEIO-Specific Responsibilities
- Leads and maintains the integrity, security, and availability of a true global 24x7 OLTP database(s) environment. Duties include disaster recovery, performance analysis and tuning, index maintenance, monitoring database health, and troubleshooting critical incidents.
- Performs upgrade from Oracle GoldenGate 19c to 21c Hub architecture and eventually to the Oracle GoldenGate 23ai with AI Vectors.
- Participates in and facilitates the full life cycle implementation of Oracle 19c RDBMS with CDB/PDB and 21c Oracle GoldenGate data replication for production environments.
- Leverages experience in:
- Managing Oracle GoldenGate 19c/21c/23ai in a multi-platform and multi-databases like Oracle, MS SQL, and Postgres data replication environment. Tasks include, but are not limited to, design, architect, engineer, and administer Oracle GoldenGate, including installation, configuration, integration, upgrades, patching, migration, capacity planning, performance tuning, and automate Conflict Detection and Resolution (CDR).
- Managing Oracle Exadata Engineering systems from X6-8 to X9M-8, Exadata Cloud Service on OCI, and ZDLRA RA23 backup engineering systems.
- Implementing Oracle GoldenGate for Big data in Azure or AWS to integrate an on-prem Oracle database with OGG Microservice.
- Upgrading the Oracle RAC database from 19c to 21c or 23ai, containerization of the 19c DB to CDB/PDB, configuring the Oracle GoldenGate replications from 19c to 21c Hub or 23ai, and deploying OEM 13.5 agents.
- Applies database administration skills to Oracle GoldenGate, Oracle Real Application Cluster and Data Guard installation, configuration, and troubleshooting production issues.
- Performs database and software life-cycle activities to ensure the highest level of system performance, availability and compliance with business requirements.
- Applies advanced methods, theories, and research techniques in the investigation and resolution of complex system requirements and issues.
Core Schedule Options: Wednesday – Sunday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM or 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM (all times ET)
Location: This position is hybrid with remote work and up to 1 day per week in the office in Sterling, VA or Washington, DC.
This position is hybrid after the individual completes a 1-week New Hire Training Program, during which the OGG DBA will work Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM in Sterling, VA. After completing the training program, the OGG DBA will work their assigned schedule, includng up to one day per week in Sterling or DC.
