Program Manager II - Global Health

As part of Department of Global Health and Health Systems Design and the Arnhold Institute for Global Health at the Ichan School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, the Research Program Manager works in partnership with Department and Institute’s Chair to supervise, support, and grow a portfolio of robust research work related to the health of children and adolescents globally, particularly children and adolescents living with HIV. In this role, the Research Program Manager will manage the Principal Investigator’s global health research activities in the area of global pediatric and adolescent health, including global pediatric HIV. The position will be based at the Institute in New York City, with the opportunity for short-term travel assignments at partner sites, such as Kenya, in the future.

The Research Program Manager will work across the research continuum, from supporting project development, ethics and regulatory submissions, data analysis, and dissemination of findings through presentations and manuscripts. The ideal candidate is someone who is passionate about global health and research and wants to learn and grow in a fast-paced and dynamic academic research environment. They will need to be highly motivated and able to work independently.

• Manage the Pediatric and Youth Health Research Program, led by Dr. Rachel Vreeman, including the direct supervision of protocol development and conduct, project budgets, sponsor reporting, and other activities essential to the success of assigned research programs. 
• Develops and amends research protocols and consent forms with international regulatory requirements. Supervises the completion and submission of international regulatory applications and renewals. Develops policies and procedures within area of responsibility. Documents and records observations on progress of research, investigations and data per regulatory and funder requirements. 
• Assists the Principal Investigator on grant applications, including the development and management of budgets. 
• Manage key personnel in the US and and co-manage personnel in Kenya, including research assistants, research coordinators, trainee research scholars and fellows, and offers guidance on research methods and techniques. Supports training and development activities for study staff. 
• Participates in conferences, meetings and seminars concerning research projects.
• Coordinate research program and infrastructure development with partnership leads, relevant program managers, and host country counterparts
• Maintain effective collaborative relationships with domestic and international program partners and counterparts including key administrative leaders at Mount Sinai, AMPATH Research Network member institutions, host country academic and health systems partners, NIH and other research sponsors, and appropriate government agencies (US and host country governments)
• Interpret, communicate, and enforce program policies and procedures for the development and conduct of collaborative education and research activities within the relevant global context, including AMPATH Kenya and the global IeDEA Consortium.

• Master’s degree in Public Health, Clinical Research, or related field, required.
• Minimum of 3 years experience leading scientific research and 1 year of international experience working in resource-limited settings in low- to middle-income countries, including strong on-the-ground experience with the implementation of health-related projects and grants in resource-limited countries, monitoring and evaluation of international grant activities, and progress reporting to sponsors.
• This position requires the physical ability to work 40 hours per week, including the flexibility to work extended hours as necessary to meet organizational needs

• This position requires ability to withstand international air and ground travel exceeding 24 hours duration
• This position requires vaccinations and other preventative measures for international travel
