Full time, day shift position in Ashe Women & Children's Health.
JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for checking in patient with responsibilities generally including obtaining necessary personal and financial data. Posts payments received, prepare deposits and balances records. Answers phone and schedules appointments. Must display appropriate customer service skills at all times.
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience:
- Prior medical office experience preferred.
- 2+ years' administrative experience.
- Familiarity with medical and insurance legislation.
- Proficiency
of healthcare operations.
License/Certifications: None.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Coordinates operations of front office.
- Greets patients in a warm manner.
- Scanning into patient charts (electronic medical record), answers telephone, transferring calls and or taking accurate messages.
- Schedules appointment and makes referral appointments.
- Check in patients, help patients to complete necessary registration and medical
history forms, and insurance information to make chart. - Accurately post charges and payments.
- Accurately code diagnosis.
- Balances cash drawer according to AMH procedures.
- Demonstrates good verbal and written communication and telephone skills.
- Abide by policies and procedures of AMH.
- Interview patients for case histories prior to appointments.
- Schedule and coordinate appointments.
- Assist patients with initial paperwork.
- Accurately update and maintain patients' health records.
- Verify insurance coverage and assist the billing department with processing claims.
- Communicate test results to patients when directed by physicians or nursing professionals.
- Assist patients with re-scheduling appointments and other scheduling issues.
- Inform patients of credit card declines and other billing issues.
- Assist with other duties as assigned.
