Continuous Improvement Practitioner

The Continuous Improvement Practitioner/ GSK Production System (GPS) Practitioner role is an extremely proactive one where you will be able to coach and influence people of all levels site wide. This will give exposure to all areas across the site and the opportunity for broad learning of the departments.

You will be provided training on DMAIC orange belt, if you do not have this already; and the chance to continue onto further levels of this qualification should you wish to.

Job Purpose

The GPS Practitioner role is responsible for deploying, embedding and sustaining the GPS within the site, to deliver the business strategy and to improve business performance across safety, quality, compliance and cost.

They work directly with the business, including those in direct roles (manufacturing, testing, fixing, shipping), those in indirect (often office-based) roles, and leaders up to and including the Site Leadership Team. They are responsible for developing the capability of site personnel to work with the GPS standards and tools, to continuously improve, and to encourage and engage all to proactively make improvements. They are expected to contribute to the delivery of significant ‘bottom line’ improvement initiatives across all business and manufacturing processes.

The Practitioner works with the Site GPS Lead to ensure the site’s strategy is clearly defined and fully deployed and that teams and individuals are focused and aligned to the correct priorities.

The Practitioner is also expected to collaborate, learn and share with counterparts on other GSK sites to standardise and replicate.

In this role you will…

  • Support day-to-day deployment and sustain use of OneGPS standards and tools.
  • Lead and be ‘hands on’ in day-to-day OneGPS activities (e.g. leading kaizens, workshops).
  • Coach staff at all levels to develop & sustain continuous improvement mindsets and behaviours.
  • Provide training/advice on the GPS basics to the site
  • Understand use of digital, data and analytics (DDA) and/or automation tools where appropriate. Work collaboratively with the site Smart Manufacturing team, and network colleagues as required.
  • Support the Site GPS Lead to periodically assess the GPS maturity of the site
  • Champion and recognise behaviours, performance and implementation of GPS. Communicate successes and learnings both internally on site and within the company as appropriate. Collaborate with other sites and business functions to learn and replicate best practices
