We are seeking candidates for the position of Track Fabricator-1st Cl (1231) in the MOW/Track Department.
OVERALL DESCRIPTION
As an experienced track fabricator, sets up, operates, repairs, overhauls, and fabricates special track work, shop machinery, track equipment, and tools.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Be proficient in the set up, operation, repair, overhaul, and fabrication of special track work, shop machinery, track equipment, and tools in the performance of related Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority duties under the general direction of the supervision in charge.
- Sets up, adjusts and operates electric welding machine for proper polarity and current values, adjusts gauges for proper mixture for acetylene welding and gas cutting.
- Performs vertical, horizontal, flat and overhead welding.
- Sets up, adjust and operate radiagraph gas cutting machine.
- Performs special welding for other department.
- Complies with all Authority and departmental safety and security policies and procedures as well as all applicable job safety responsibilities. Reports any safety concerns, compromises or hazards affecting operations, the public, self and/or other employees. Responsible for personal safety and is encouraged to promote the safety of others.
ADDITIONAL SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma or equivalent is required.
- Must satisfactorily complete qualification tests.
- Must be experienced in the layout, fabrication, repair, and assembly of special track work; must have ability to overhaul, repair, and operate track. Field and shop equipment must possess tools pertinent to the occupation.
- Must successfully pass pre-qualifying exercise to determine ability to perform vertical and overhead welding.
- Must have valid driver’s license.
