About the role
Overview
Connection has a fantastic opportunity through our Technical Staffing division for a Part-Time Contract Data Engineer. This is a 100% remote role!
The Data Engineer will work closely with the Research, Evaluation, and Data team to support data migration via AWS and optimize data infrastructure. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the security, accuracy, and accessibility of data that supports insights into sexual, emotional, and physical abuse within sports.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage data migration processes within AWS environments (Athena, Snowflake, etc.).
- Build and optimize data infrastructure to support reporting, security, and accessibility.
- Write, optimize, and manage complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and reporting schemas.
- Build and monitor APIs to facilitate smooth data ingestion and reporting.
- Develop KPIs, dashboards, and scheduled reports to maintain data integrity and enhance accessibility.
- Implement data validation processes and ensure compliance with privacy and security standards.
- Work closely with internal teams to support federal grant reporting, dashboard development, and reporting automation.

- Expert-level SQL knowledge with experience in data architecture and reporting schema development.
- Strong AWS experience, including Athena, Snowflake, and data migration processes.
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering and analysis, or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 2+ years of applied experience.
- Proficiency in Python, C#, Java, and front-end UI development.
- Experience working with BI tools such as Looker, Tableau, or similar.
- Ability to develop, manage, and optimize data pipelines for large-scale data integration.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a remote setting.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Experience handling confidential or sensitive data, particularly related to minors, sexual abuse, or domestic violence survivors.
- Understanding of values-oriented evaluation methods and participatory research.
- Experience in training or capacity-building in data systems.
- Master’s or PhD in a related field.
