Responsibilities

Job Summary

As the Director of Food Services, you will have responsibility for the food and nutrition services within the hospital, ensuring the delivery of consistent customer service excellence and patient satisfaction. Provide leadership and accountability for the Food and Nutrition Service function, services and programs. Maintaining and monitoring utilization of resources, physical space, equipment, department protocols, equipment, standards, policies, and practices.

 

Duties and Responsibilities: to include but not limited to the following

  • Establish and maintain benchmarks for food and nutritional operations and regularly monitors performance to continuously improve quality and efficiency.
  • Administer and oversees the employee development and training program for the Dietary Department which involves the assessment of training needs, meeting identified needs in a timely and effective manner.
  • Recognize areas of operational deficiencies and provides leadership toward improvement.
  • Adheres to Health & Safety Regulations and Food Hygiene Regulations, recording daily food and refrigeration temperature, while keeping a safe, clean environment at all times.
  • Prepares and manages annual budget
  • Oversees and participates in the preparation and service of food and beverage items in adherence to company food standards for preparation, presentation, sanitation and safety (meeting HACCP and OSHA guidelines) and portion control
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • B.S. Degree in Food Services Technology/Management or related field; or A.A. Degree plus four years of directly related experience preferred
  • Minimum of two to five years of hospital or Residential Treatment Center
  • Five to seven years of direct foodservice operational management experience with inventory and purchasing knowledge and control
  • Strong knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation
  • Strong supervisory, leadership, management and coaching skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to communicate on various levels to include management, client, customer and associate levels
  • Excellent financial, budgetary, accounting and computational skills
  • Proficient computer skills to include; various computer programs, Microsoft Office programs, e-mail and the Internet
  • Certified Dietary Manager certificate or Registered Dietitian preferred

 

Physical Requirements

  • Environments Demands and Exposures to Hazards: (OSHA Level - Il)

Normal work routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluid, or tissues, but employment may require some unplanned, Category I activities.

 

  • Essential Physical/Mental Demands:

1)    Physical Demands: Must be ambulatory;

Must have visual/hearing acuity.

2)    Mental Demands: Must have verbal ability;

Must be able to comprehend instructions;

Must be able to write legibly;

Must be able to comprehend/interpret charts, diagrams, and possess inductive and deductive reasoning.

  • Manual Dexterity Required:

Must possess dexterity, stand, sit, walk, lift and carry twenty pounds for short distances.
