About this role

Carrier North America Residential Solutions is looking for a Materials Supervisor to supervise 30+ hourly unionized employees in a fast-paced, high-volume production as well as low-volume complex work cells manufacturing environment.  The Materials Supervisor is responsible for ensuring appropriate and timely material flow to the 4 production lines.

This is an onsite 1st shift role in Indianapolis IN. Working hours 6 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Thursday and working on Fridays will be seen as overtime hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead a team to achieve operations, quality, and continuous improvement goals through training, coaching, discipline, and effective communications
  • Champion the use of continuous improvement tools to reduce downtime, improve quality, reduce scrap, and achieve labor efficiency targets
  • Implement product and engineering changes successfully
  • Model and promote adherence to environmental, health and safety policies and initiatives
  • Ensure safety is top priority when assigning work
  • Monitor work order progress and drives quality and timeliness of completion
  • Maintain timecards and overtime records
  • Nurture work relationship with union; follow the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement

Basic Qualifications

  • Associates degree with 2+ years of experience in operations or supply chain management

OR

  • Bachelor’s degree with prior internship experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in supervision or leading people
  • Able to motivate and lead employees
  • Background in progressive manufacturing management environment
  • Experience supervising union-represented employees
  • Experience in Six Sigma/Lean processes
  • English communication skills (verbal and written)
