DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Senior Inventory Management Clerk – Team Lead is responsible for coordinating, leading, and executing the movement, setup, and management of materials, equipment, and program areas to support operational needs. This role provides day-to-day oversight and direction to inventory staff, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently, accurately, and in alignment with departmental priorities. The Team Lead ensures that resources are effectively distributed, facilities are properly prepared, and program areas are relocated or dismantled as required. This includes planning, assigning, and monitoring work related to warehouse operations, site setup, and logistics coordination to maintain smooth and timely operations.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Leadership & Supervision:
- Lead, supervise, and provide directions to logistics and inventory staff to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
- Assign daily work activities, monitor performance, and provide ongoing coaching and training.
- Conduct regular team meetings and one-on-one check-ins to address performance, productivity, and development.
- Assist in onboarding and training new employees in procedures, safety protocols, and operational standards.
- Coordinate and execute the movement, setup, and takedown of facilities and program areas.
- Oversee the relocation of program areas, materials, and equipment to support operational priorities and special projects.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely delivery, setup, and breakdown of materials for programs and events.
- Ensure all logistical operations are performed in alignment with departmental policies and timelines.
- Oversee the organization, tracking, and maintenance of inventory including materials, supplies, and equipment.
- Conduct and supervise physical inventory counts to ensure accuracy, availability, and proper condition of assets.
- Monitor storage practices to prevent loss, damage, or misplacement of materials.
- Maintain inventory records and ensure updates are accurately reflected in tracking systems.
- Assist with and oversee the building, assembling, and arrangement of furniture and equipment for program areas, temporary facilities, and events.
- Ensure all setups meet operational, safety, and programmatic requirements.
- Provide leadership and hands-on support during natural disasters and emergency situations.
- Coordinate rapid deployment of supplies, equipment, and personnel to support emergency operations.
- Assist in establishing temporary facilities and ensuring they are fully operational.
- Enforce safety standards and proper handling procedures for equipment and materials.
- Ensure staff adhere to all operational and safety guidelines during movement and setup activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental operational and logistical needs.
PHYSICAL EFFORT:
The position requires lifting of heavy items of up to 60 pounds and/or walking on rough surfaces routinely and/or regular physical exertion such as climbing of ladders.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
There are routine discomforts from exposure to moderate heat, cold, moisture/wetness and unpleasant air conditions. The position may involve routine exposure to soiled materials and light chemical substances such as cleaning solutions.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTSRequires a high school diploma or GED.
May require a valid Texas Driver's License and compliance with the City of Houston's policy on driving.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Two (2) years of inventory control, materials management, or record keeping experience are required. May require experience in operating a forklift and other motorized
