Description

Saint Mary’s College of California invites applications for a full-time salaried adjunct position (non-tenure track) in Anatomy & Physiology, Department of Biology, to start in July 2026. The initial appointment is a one-year position, which may be renewed depending on the department’s needs. The candidate hired will be responsible for teaching 18-25 units during the academic year, which typically consists of 3-4 lecture classes and 4-6 lab sections annually.

 

Primary teaching duties consist of Anatomy and Physiology I and II lecture and laboratory courses (BIOL 250, 250L, 251, 251L). Secondary teaching duties may include other Biology courses, based on the candidate’s expertise and the needs of the department. The candidate will eventually coordinate and oversee multiple sections of BIOL 250L and/or 251L lab.

 

All faculty also contribute to the mission and serve the College and community in many ways, including academic advising, student and community outreach, curricular development and assessment, and participation in departmental committees.

 

Saint Mary’s faculty are expected to contribute to the mission in alignment with the Saint Mary’s College Transformation 2028 strategic priorities and as it relates to diversity, equity, inclusion and justice, and interdisciplinary programming. All full-time faculty serve the College and community in many ways, such as academic advising, student and community outreach, participation in departmental and College-wide committees, and the development and assessment of the College’s Core Curriculum.

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is reflected in the Faculty Salary Scale, available here. In addition to base pay, salary supplements may be offered for this discipline as determined by current faculty salary policies in consultation with the Dean and Provost.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

 

 

The candidate must have a doctoral degree in a relevant area of biological sciences and demonstrated experience teaching both Anatomy and Physiology lecture and laboratory courses at the collegiate level.
