The role:
In this role, the Senior Technical Program Manager - Data Governance at SoFi, you will focus on several critical components of the Data Governance program. This role will leverage your process skills for the daily oversight and management of the organization's process to manage data sharing with non-affiliates. In addition, this role will be responsible for delivery of key initiatives in data classification, metadata management, data sharing and data quality. This role will require you to collaborate with cross-functional leaders in engineering, product, design, and business to drive data technology decisions, innovations, and implementation. Additionally, you will play a key role in ensuring SoFi meets all regulatory requirements and protects the data of its members by fostering and promoting best practices in data governance through evangelizing and collaborating with stakeholders across other lines of defense. The ideal candidate for this role will have a deep understanding of data governance and best practices, familiarity with regulatory and privacy requirements, and strong technical skills in data technologies such as SQL, Snowflake, Airflow, and Spark. Strong partnership skills, excellent communication and collaboration abilities, and the ability to deliver programs that improve SoFi's overall data posture will be a key to success in this role.

Key responsibilities:
- Day-to-day management of Permission to Share process inclusive of running controls and identification and implementation of enhancements
- Drive adoption of this compliance programs across business units, using customer feedback to continuously improve and refine the tooling.
- Establish and implement monitoring protocols and key performance indicators (KPIs) and key risk indicators (KRIs) to measure the impact of this process on identified key organizational risks.
- Develop and implement reporting on process status to key stakeholders and business leadership.
- Partner with key stakeholders across the organization to implement data governance capabilities, working closely with engineering teams to establish infrastructure and tooling that enable teams across SoFi to comply with governance requirements.
What you’ll need:
- Bachelor's degree or higher with an engineering and technical discipline.
- 6+ years of experience in technical (software, data, engineering) program management.
- 3+ years of experience in data governance; handling compliance, technology risk management, and/or internal/external audits.
- A deep understanding of regulations like CCPA, GDPR, and emerging privacy regulations.
- Ability to deliver large scale, enterprise-level, cross-cutting programs.
- Strong technical skills with data technologies and concepts such as SQL, Python, Snowflake, Airflow, Spark, Data Mesh, etc.
- Experience influencing stakeholders and executive leadership through strong written and verbal communication and analytical skills
- Strong sense of ownership and bias for action.
- Ability to effectively partner with cross-functional teams.
