Compliance, ERM, and Internal Audit Co-op

The Compliance, Enterprise Risk Management, and Internal Audit Co-op will have the opportunity to work with both teams on various projects; learning about corporate policies, conduct & ethics, as well as gaining a basic understanding of the controls of most of the Coverys business units. The role includes internal client interaction, hands on experience with the internal audit methodology of an insurance organization, and exposure to insurance claims regulatory reporting.

One of the primary responsibilities of the role will be to assist the Internal Audit team in the Model Audit Rule (MAR) testing of internal controls. The Co-op will also maintain the regulatory filing calendar, and conduct basic regulatory research.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Support the Compliance and Internal Audit teams with various projects.

• Support and document walkthroughs and testing of various MAR processes in coordination with the Finance department.

• Assist the Claims Regulatory Reporting Associates with reporting.

• Support the audit team monitoring project progress and status.

• Prepare for meetings with clients for the purpose of audit planning, fieldwork, and reporting.

• Partner with department representatives as necessary to identify required regulatory reports and deadlines.

• Develop Compliance Department slides, presentations, and content for the internal department SharePoint site.

Education, Requirements, and Competencies

• Organization skills to manage multiple projects with competing priorities and deadlines.

• Strong interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate and network effectively in a team environment.

• Able to maintain strict confidentiality on sensitive projects

• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in written form.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of products.

• Keen attention to detail

• Analytical and problem-solving abilities

• This is a paid Co-op, offering $24 – $26 per hour based on experience.
