The Marketing & Communication team’s purpose is to effectively communicate the programs, events, services, and facility information for each of the department’s program areas (Campus Recreation, Outdoor Adventure, Sport Clubs, Intramural Sports, and Fitness) to the broader Baylor University community.

The Marketing Assistant is an integral part of helping the team meet its purpose and goals.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Provide support to the Associate Director, Graduate Assistant, and Account Managers through the planning, designing, and implementing of specific marketing projects (print or digital media, for example).
  • Design media (pictures, graphics, print) for distribution through appropriate departmental channels (social media account, digital monitors, flyers, merchandise)
  • Monitor upcoming, recurring and special activities, programs and events to pre-plan, capture/design and deploy content
  •  Contribute and work cooperatively with all marketing team members to meet content creation and deployment objectives

Required Qualifications

  • Passion for sports, recreation and/or wellness
  • Teachable with a strong desire to learn and a willingness to learn from others
  • Creativity; desire to innovate and/or improve existing work
  • Capacity to work collaboratively as a member of a team
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision
  • Organized and efficient, able to problem-solve with an attention to detail

Preferred Experience

  • Copyrighting (or similar experience); strong skills in written communication and editing
  • Interest in engaging audiences through compelling graphics
  • Photography experience preferred, but not required
  • Graphic design experience preferred, but not required
  • Project management experience preferred, but not required
