BEDROCK 

Title: Shipping Representative Reports to: Shipping Supervisor

FLSA: Non-exempt Department: Shipping

Primary Function

Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment

Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Verifies logistical orders are scheduled and made
  • Runs reports and verifies back logs of orders and parts 
  • Cancels orders when instructed
  • Verifies shipment counts on delivery truck against BOL
  • Notifies supervisor of any shortages and/or overages and files BOL
  • Reports “Not in Stock (NIS)” information to the credit and customer service managers
  • Processes will-call orders for customers and employees
  • Determines method of shipment utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes and rates
  • Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons identifying shipping information
  • Posts daily all shipping and receiving transactions to company’s accounting software system and ensures items pulled for shipment matches those billed
  • Assists with restocking return items  
  • Assists with company policy of next-day delivery
  • Operates a forklift, Telehandler when required
  • Completes day-end processes, sorts and files all paperwork
  • Assists with stock checks, cycle and inventory counts
  • All other duties assigned by management

Skills:

  • Must be knowledgeable in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, etc.) and have ability and desire to learn company accounting software needed to perform shipping and receiving function
  • Ability to work well with other divisions to achieve common goals
  • May be required to operate a forklift or telehandler

Qualifications:

  • Must have knowledge of inventory, shipping and receiving systems
  • Must be able and willing to learn and understand location and inventory organization system 

Physical Requirements

  • Standing, walking and sitting on concrete required for 8-10 (eight to ten) hours per days (67-100%)
  • Hand and foot usage required up to 8-10 (eight to ten) hours per day (67-100%)
  • Climbing, reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and twisting required occasionally (0-33%)
  • Frequent lifting and moving up to 50 pounds without any restrictions(0-33%) 

Work Environment (this position requires that the employee be able to work in and around the following elements):

  • Indoors and Outdoors
  • Loud Environments
  • Extreme heat or cold(weather-related)
  • Wet or humid conditions (weather-related)
  • Fumes from equipment or airborne particles
