Job Description
AECOM Tishman has an exciting opportunity for a Health and Safety Supervisor for our ongoing midtown Manhattan construction project:
Job Duties:
- Under minimal supervision, responsible for the most complex technical work in a wide range of environmental, health and safety disciplines to achieve compliance with ES&H standards along with federal and state regulatory requirements.
- Maintains expert knowledge of specific government agency requirements.
- Utilizes advanced techniques and diversified knowledge of environmental principles.
- Assignments are usually self-initiated.
- Uses independent judgment and discretion in data analysis and problem resolution.
- Develops, implements and maintains safety and health programs, systems and procedures.
- Monitors and prevents hazards and diseases that could be present in the work area.
- Investigates accidents, injuries, and complaints concerning hazards in the workplace.
- Recommends improvements in processes, design, procedures and operating equipment's to minimize hazards.
- Develops and conducts employee training, emergency preparedness and assures the quality of programs.
- Provides regulatory interpretation and technical advice.
- Prepares reports and recommends corrective action.
- Work includes technical responsibility for a major phase or component of a project.
- Acts as a lead role for a team of ES&H specialists and/or support personnel.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- BA/BS Occupational Safety or related curriculum and 6 years of professional construction safety experience or AA/AS (US) and 8 years of relevant experience or HSD/GED and 10 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- Valid CHST (Construction Health/Safety Technician)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience as a safety professional in construction.
- OSHA 30
- 40-hour HazWoper.
- Confined space entry experience/certification.
- Experience in civil utility construction projects in New York City.
- Knowledge of local municipal regulations.
- Experience in excavation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, etc.).
- Experience with safety reporting and report creation.
Physical Demands:
- The following physical demands represent those typically required of individuals working in construction field roles, with or without accommodation. Construction field positions require physical stamina and mobility, including the ability to climb ladders and stairs, use personnel hoists, and move through various terrain and active construction zones. Vision requirements include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Team members must be capable of using their hands to handle tools and materials, and perform activities such as sitting, standing, walking, speaking, hearing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. Lifting and carrying materials weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted may be necessary on an occasional basis.
