As we execute one of the most significant transformation programs in our history, we are seeking a Director, IT Development to lead the development of critical SAP and Web platforms.

 

This leadership role is accountable for overseeing both internal and managed service development teams to deliver measurable business outcomes aligned with CMC’s strategic priorities: investing in our people, achieving excellence in all we do, and driving growth. Reporting to the Sr Director, Product and Delivery Services, this position will ensure the success of development initiatives through strong collaboration, disciplined execution, and innovative leadership.

What You'll Do

• Provide strategic direction for the IT development function, aligning it with organizational goals and business needs.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of developers, architects, and analysts.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of IT development initiatives with broader business strategies.
• Oversee all development activities related to SAP (e.g., S/4HANA, Fiori) and Web platforms (e.g., customer portals, internal applications).
• Ensure timely and high-quality delivery of software development projects, meeting business requirements and technical standards.
• Manage and enhance development processes to improve efficiency, scalability, and quality.
• Develop and implement comprehensive QA strategies and processes covering both manual and automated testing
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure quality standards are met throughout the product lifecycle and achieve faster release cycles.
• Manage and enhance testing frameworks to improve efficiency, scalability, and quality.
• Conduct regular audits and reviews to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
• Act as the primary liaison between internal teams and managed service providers to coordinate outsourced development efforts.
• Monitor and evaluate the performance of service providers to ensure contractual obligations, SLAs, and quality expectations are met.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in SAP, web development, and related areas.
• Provide guidance on technical architecture and ensure best practices are implemented.
• Promote the use of innovative tools and techniques to optimize system performance and functionality.
• Establish and enforce development standards, processes, and governance frameworks.
• Ensure all development activities comply with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.

What You'll Need

• 10+ years of experience in IT development, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Proven experience managing SAP development projects, preferably in S/4HANA and Fiori.
• Strong expertise in web application development and associated technologies.
• Demonstrated experience working with managed service providers and leading hybrid teams.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Strong understanding of IT governance, compliance, and best practices.
• Experience in Agile or DevOps methodologies.
• Familiarity with cloud-based development platforms and services.
