The Philadelphia Design Center (PDC) in Ridley Park, PA has an exciting opportunity for an Experienced Mechanical Systems Design Engineer.

The PDC supports new and legacy aerospace programs throughout the Boeing enterprise from Boeing Commercial, Boeing Defense, Boeing Space, & Boeing Global Services.

This position is specifically looking for those candidates that have previous experience with flight controls actuation design and qualification.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develops, integrates and documents structural requirements to establish the system design

  • Guides product design and certification using a gated process to develop the system design, characteristics, and performance

  • Develops test plans and configurations, supports test execution, and analyzes test reports to validate and verify aircraft requirements and specifications

  • Defines and documents certification and test results to substantiate for customers and regulatory agencies that requirements are satisfied

  • Supports in-service products by investigating failures and analyzing improvements

  • Develops analytical processes/tools to improve effectiveness, quality, and efficiency of system designs

  • Work with less experienced engineering teammates to complete tasks with the highest quality through mentoring and design reviews

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required skills/experience)

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)

  • 1+ years of flight controls engineering or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications (Desired skills/experience):

  • Familiarization with Boeing tools i.e.: DOORS, CATIA V5, ENOVIA, CAFTA, TAPE, CAMEO DESE, MATLAB/Simulink, etc

  • Experience with FAA regulatory certification with RTCA/DO-178, RTCA/DO-254, ARP4761

  • Experience with the qualification of subsystem components

  • Experience with flight controls actuation design and qualification.

Typical Education/Experience:  

Level 3  

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications.
