The City of Peoria seeks to hire a Community Center Assistant in the Neighborhood and Human Services Department to lead activities within the Active Adult Program. Activities include, but are not limited to special events, enrichment classes, and outings within the community. In addition to assisting with the Active Adult Program, ideal candidates will also possess general computer skills, and will able to assist with administrative tasks in a multi-generational community center.

The ideal candidate for this position will have:

  • Experience leading activities and programs for active adults aged 50 and over
  • A valid Arizona Driver’s License
  • The ability to safely operate 15-passenger vans for recreational outings
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively address and resolve customer concerns while in the community
  • A commitment to maintaining safety at all times, especially when working with senior populations
  • Proficiency in general computer use and basic digital tools

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • No minimum education requirement.

Experience:

  • No previous related experience required.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Must be a minimum of 16 years of age.
  • Must complete all required City training courses within six months hire

Preferred/Desirable Qualifications:

  • Valid Driver’s License is preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic needs and safety concerns associated with the care of assigned populations.
  • Ability to maintain a safe work environment in accordance with program and city policies and procedures for participants, patrons, co-workers and self.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, regarding incidents, decisions and issues pertaining to activities, events, etc. to assigned supervisor
