The Device Assembly Facility (DAF) is seeking a Support Manager (Senior Principal Nuclear Facilities Operations Specialist) reporting to DAF Facility Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the DAF Management Team in day-to-day operations of the facility.
- Act as the DAF Manager and backup to the DAF Facility Manager. Must be comfortable in making critical decisions in a changing environment.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of DOE orders, standards, policies, and procedures including working knowledge of the Documented Safety Analysis and Technical Safety Requirements to identify hazardous conditions and take appropriate actions to correct or eliminate any identified hazards.
- Contact & assign qualified facility specific SMEs for response to operational and safety needs for required remediation of facility issues.
- Assist in the development, review, and implementation of Safety Basis Documentation and associated implementing plans and procedures.
- Periodically reviews procedures and logs to ensure compliance with Company Documents and effective Conduct of Operations.
- Communicate facility status and open items with NNSA/NFO Facility Representatives and appropriate Laboratory/User management personnel.
- Ensure appropriate procedures, training, equipment, and tools are provided to employees.
- Act as primary or backup Control Account Manager (CAM) for DAF Operations.
- Represent the DAF and manage DAF members involved in the SEO Safety Council.
- Serve as the main POC for activities in the DAF related to training, vehicle coordination, and facility operations procurements.
- Review and implement management plans, contractor requirements, and implementing documentation to ensure the DAF is operated and maintained in a safe and compliant manner, while also meeting programmatic expectations.
- Performs other tasks as assigned by Facility Manager.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent training and experience, plus a minimum of 14 years of related and progressively responsible experience.
- Nuclear Facility Worker - This position is subject to the requirements of DOE Order 426.2. Education and experience requirements will be screened accordingly.
- In-depth knowledge and experience with nuclear facility operations, including facility design and maintenance, ESH&Q policies and procedures, and management of a nuclear facility authorization basis. Experience working as a member of a team of professional and technical personnel.
- In-depth experience analyzing complex technical problems and developing solutions in a systematic way.
- Experience working in schedule-driven environments.
- Ability to successfully complete the required qualification programs.
- Experience in the following areas desired: 1) nuclear explosive safety program environment; 2) NNSA-related activities involving significant quantities of nuclear materials; 3) military nuclear weapons programs.
- Must possess quality soft skills to promote an environment for open communications, develop mutual trust and teamwork, and facilitate employee self-development.
- Demonstrated skill to establish and maintain strong and effective customer relations, and to anticipate change and adjust promptly and effectively.
