Cloud Solutions Architect/DevSecOps Engineer

Job Type Full-time Description

NexGen Data Systems is seeking a Cloud Solutions Architect/DevSecOps Engineer to support a government customer. The ideal candidate will be experienced in research, design, and development of computer and network software or specialized utility programs which may include database maintenance within an application area. Candidates should be well versed in applying programming concepts and applying modern software development methodologies (e.g. agile, DEVOPS/DEVSECOPS) in a professional or academic setting. Experience architecting or planning migrations to a commercial cloud service providers a huge plus. 

Roles and Responsibilities: 

• Gathers requirements and designs Public, Private, and Hybrid Cloud-based system deployments and system transitions. 
• Architecting and planning migrations to commercial cloud service providers such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Office 365, Google Cloud Platform, or similar cloud platforms. 
• Will perform in a supervisory or technical lead role on a team of architects leading the design and recommendations. 
• Work with end users and application experts to elicit requirements for designing and deploying scalable, highly available, and fault tolerant systems in cloud-based systems.
• Lift and shift planning for existing on-premises application to cloud-based systems.
• Ingress and egress planning for data migration to and from cloud-based systems.
• Selecting the appropriate cloud service based on data, compute, database, or security requirements.
• Integration with on-premises enterprise networks and systems.
• Identifying appropriate use of cloud architectural best practices.
• Estimating cloud costs and identifying cost control mechanisms.
• Providing tasking and oversight over other technical members of the team performing the design and architecture.
• Providing technical clarity and direction to Cloud IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS Consultants.
• Reviews final work products for correctness and adherence to design concepts.

Requirements

Desired/Required Skills: 

• Active Top Secret level government clearance or higher required. Candidates with Secrete SSBI level clearance will be considered. 
• Must meet 8140 Department of Defense compliance requirements, IAT II, (Security and OS certifications)
• Quarterly travel to Charleston, SC required (two days a quarter)
• Ten years professional experience with Masters of Science degree or fourteen years’ experience with Bachelors of Science degree with research, design, and development of computer and network software or specialized utility programs which may include database maintenance within an application area. 
• Individual shall have experience applying programming concepts in a professional or academic setting and notable experience with applying modern software development methodologies (e.g. agile, DEVOPS/DEVSECOPS) in a professional or academic setting.
• Agile Developer certification or Certified Scrum Developer certification required.
• AWS Solutions Architect Certification required.
• 10+ years’ experience working in and designing Public, Private, and Hybrid Cloud-based system deployments and system transitions. 
• Experience architecting and planning migrations to commercial cloud service providers such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure and Office 365, Google Cloud Platform, or similar cloud platforms. 
• Experience working in a supervisory or technical lead role. 
• Customer facing experience extremely preferential.
• 10+ years’ experience designing and deploying scalable, highly available, and fault tolerant systems in cloud-based systems.
• Experience estimating cloud costs and identifying cost control mechanisms.
• Lift and shift planning for existing on-premises application to cloud-based systems required.
• Providing tasking and oversight over other technical members of the team performing the design and architecture.
• Experience gathering requirements and designing Public, Private, and Hybrid Cloud-based system deployments and system transitions. 
• Providing technical clarity and direction to Cloud IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS Consultants.
