Actual starting pay will vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, skills, specialty, and education.

Eligible for an Annual Discretionary Cash Bonus Target: 15%

Eligible for an Annual Discretionary Restricted Stock Units Bonus Target: 15%

These discretionary target bonuses may be awarded semi-annually based upon your achievement of performance goals and targets.

About This Job

The Sr. Underwriting Associate is a senior-level contributor responsible for underwriting complex structured finance and asset-based lending transactions. This role supports the Commercial and Industrial Banking division by executing end-to-end underwriting and closing processes for direct lending to specialty finance firms. The ideal candidate brings deep analytical expertise, client engagement skills, and cross-functional collaboration experience to drive high-quality credit decisions.

Responsibilities:

• Lead underwriting of specialty finance transactions including structured credit and asset-based lending for direct investments in portfolio companies
• Analyze borrowing bases across diverse asset types and structures, validating collateral and covenant compliance
• Build and maintain advanced Excel models to assess cash flow, collateral coverage, and risk-adjusted returns
• Draft and present comprehensive credit memos to internal credit committees and senior stakeholders
• Engage directly with clients to gather underwriting materials, clarify deal terms, and resolve structuring issues
• Collaborate across investment, legal, operations, and risk teams to ensure seamless execution of transactions from origination through closing
• Apply AI tools and data analytics to enhance underwriting efficiency and portfolio insights
• Maintain organized electronic loan files and prepare monthly and/or quarterly ad-hoc reports
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to continuous improvement of underwriting processes

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; advanced degree or CFA preferred
• 3+ years of experience in specialty finance underwriting, structured credit, or asset-based lending
• Proven ability to underwrite and close complex transactions with minimal oversight
• Strong command of Excel modeling, including scenario analysis and sensitivity testing
• Familiarity with AI applications in credit analysis and portfolio management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation of credit recommendations
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, credit-driven environment
