The Skilled Trades Supervisor in the Bus Maintenance Section assigns and coordinates the work of bus maintenance staff performing a variety of journey-level diesel and related transit vehicle maintenance and repair work.
General Description:
The purpose of this class within the organization is to oversee the construction, renovation and maintenance of a skilled tradesman crew. This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires four (4) years of journey level experience in diesel or heavy equipment maintenance and repair including one (1) year of lead work/supervisory experience.
Necessary Requirements:
- Ability to work shift work in a 24/7 operation as assigned (days, afternoons, nights, weekends and holidays).
- Ability to report to multiple work locations as needed.
Special Certifications and Licenses Required:
Must obtain a Florida Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Air Brake and Passenger Transport Endorsement within ninety (90) days of employment based on area of assignment.
Preferences:
- OSHA Standard 29 CFR 1910.178 Powered Industrial Trucks (Forklift Compliance)
- 40 CFR Part 82, Subpart F (608) Federal License for Handling Refrigerants
- 2 or more ASE Certifications (e.g. A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, A6, A7, A8)
- EPA Section 609 Certification - Motor Vehicle Air Conditioning (MVAC)
- Broward County Transportation Leadership Program (TLP) Graduate
- 1 or more years Maintenance Management Software experience (Asset Works or comparable)
- 1 or more years Transit Bus - Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning
- 1 or more years Electrical/Electronic Systems; Transit Bus - Diesel Engines
- 1 or more years Time & Attendance Software experience (Kronos or comparable)
- 1 or more years experience in a union environment/union negotiation
- Automotive Technology Certification
- Associate Degree or higher in a field of study related to area of assignment
