Reporting to the VP of Talent & UL University, this role is responsible for the Global Talent Acquisition strategy, improving the performance of the talent acquisition function globally with the right operating model and deploying world-class talent acquisition programs. Programing is to be grounded in strategic workforce planning and deliver modern, diversity-minded sourcing approaches to attract a diverse talent mix. The Director of Talent Acquisition partners with various HR and business stakeholders to develop a strong talent pipeline for current and future business needs.
This role requires strong business acumen and a track record of effectively supporting the growth and profitability of a global company. The Global Director of Talent Acquisition uses global HR/TA experience to influence leaders and drive cultural change in a fast-paced and changing environment. S/he consistently demonstrates a change mindset and customer centricity, with a focus on accountability for delivering quality results. Seeks opportunities to develop the functional understanding for the use of Artificial Intelligence and machine learning applications within the talent acquisition space.
This role is to located in Northbrook, IL or our Chicago office and works closely and collaboratively with various HR stakeholders including Talent Management, Learning & Development, Customer Operating Unites (COUS) and regional/local HR Advisors.
- In partnership with Executive leadership, establishes and executes an aligned, holistic and innovative talent acquisition function with clear strategies and consistent practices that attracts top talent.
- Further evolves the talent acquisition function into a fully integrated/optimized model with strategic workforce planning, successful social media campaigns, candidate relationship management, and a focus on robust talent acquisition programs such as Proactive Sourcing, Inclusion, Employee Referral, Professional Networks, early talent strategies, etc.
- Leads the global talent acquisition team (50+ across three regions) in accordance with the company values to promote a positive, high-performing, fun, innovative, and growth-oriented environment that consistently delivers results.
- Provides guidance to continually improve the performance of regionally based direct reports.
- Defines accountabilities, establishes performance objectives, provides regular ongoing feedback and guidance, and ensures that all policies are understood and adhered to.
- Identifies, maintains and reports key recruitment, talent-related, and interview slate metrics that are then transformed into useful business intelligence.
- Continuously seeks to improve the entire life-cycle talent acquisition process to ensure an optimal and efficient candidate and manager experience.
- Researches, recommends, and invests in new talent acquisition products and services to greatly improve sourcing, put in place new and different channels, leverage Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning applications, etc.
- Partners with Talent Management to identify and/or develop new and digital skillset relevant assessment strategies and tools
- Collaborates with business leaders and HR Business Partners on Workforce Planning to deliver against business hiring needs and ensures the company stays abreast of current hiring trends, best practices and employment related data.
- Identifies and manages external talent acquisition and technology vendors that support the hiring process (e.g. LinkedIn, Indeed, WeChat, etc.). Responsible for recruitment related vendor selection and management.
- Partners with HRIT and HRIS to maintain and improve recruitment systems and UL’s career portals (e.g. Oracle Recruiting Cloud).
- Collaborates with VP of Talent Management to define and maintain TA budgets and operational cost management.
- Performs other duties as required.
- University Degree (Equivalent to U.S. Bachelor’s degree) in Human Resources, Business, Training, Organizational Development, or related field (advanced degree is preferred as is a professional HR certification such as SPHR, AIRS® Recruitment certifications, etc.), and generally 12+ years HR experience, with at least 10 years of that in management of Talent Acquisition/recruitment teams. Previous global human resources experience required.
- Proven success designing, implementing and executing talent acquisition (with a strong diversity component) and programs.
- Strong executive presence and leadership capabilities, with the ability to influence senior level leaders and other key stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a high paced, growing global company. Strong project management skills and the ability to work collaboratively with HR colleagues and the business partners are essential.
