TITLE: Assistant Club Crew Coach (Fall)
REPORTS TO: Athletic Director
SCHEDULE: Must be available for daytime practice sessions 4 days a week in the afternoons: Mo-Tu-Th-Fr, usually 4 – 6 pm. Season begins late August/ early September through mid November. Schedule may vary according to departmental and Academy needs.

Position Purpose
Instruct or coach teams and individual students in the fundamentals of sports. Demonstrate techniques and methods of participation. May evaluate athletes' strengths and weaknesses as possible recruits, or to improve the athlete’s technique to prepare them for competition.
Job Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and conduct practice sessions for water and land under support of Head Coaches.
- Provide training direction, encouragement, and motivation in order to prepare athletes for games, competitive events, and/or tours.
- Keep abreast of changing rules, techniques, technologies, and philosophies relevant to their sport.
- Adjust coaching techniques based on the strengths and weaknesses of athletes.
- Instruct individuals or groups in sports rules, game strategies, and performance principles such as specific ways of moving the body, hands, and/or feet in order to achieve desired results.
- Evaluate athletes' skills, and review performance records, in order to determine their fitness and potential in a particular area of athletics.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Experience driving/using a coaching launch.
- Clear understanding of rowing technique.
- Demonstrated ability to work with students by building trust and credibility.

- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills as well as a strong customer focus.

Position Requirements
Education
- High school diploma or GED required.
- College degree preferred.
Experience
- Has played sport in high school or college or has reached a level of expertise in the sport as an adult through participation coaching or through a formal coaching development program.
- Experience in an academic institution preferred.
- Experience working with adolescents in an educational setting preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Physical demands are in excess of those for sedentary work and will require the ability to remain standing for extended periods of time, go up and down flights of steps, lift and push heavy objects as well as stoop, squat, bend, kneel, crouch, and lift.
- Physically able to act quickly in emergencies.
- Ability and dexterity to grasp and grip and safely operate sports equipment.
- Ability to lift and transport up to 25lbs without assistance.
Additional Requirements
- Successfully complete a criminal background check (reviewed every 5 years).
- Clean driving record (reviewed annually).
