Vaccination for COVID-19 and Influenza (flu) is mandatory for all MSK staff. Staff are considered fully vaccinated upon completion of a primary vaccination series for COVID-19 (i.e., one dose of a single dose vaccine or a final dose of a multi-dose vaccine series). Exceptions from the COVID-19 and Influenza (flu) vaccine requirements are permitted for those who request and receive an approved medical, religious, or fully remote exemption.  Requests for exemption can take up to two weeks to review. Vaccination or an approved exemption is required to start work. 

Job Description

Exciting new opportunity to join MSK as Director, Nursing Workforce Resource Management and Staffing Solutions. Reporting to our Chief Nursing Executive, the Director will be responsible for developing programs and processes to support MSK's nursing workforce goals to ensure we're staffed to drive collective success and deliver exceptional and compassionate patient care. This role works closely with HR, Finance, Nursing leadership, and other departments across the institution. Utilizing a systems approach, you will gather and synthesize data to develop comprehensive plans and drive the strategy forward.  

 

Additionally, the Director will build a flexible staffing plan to optimize resources and enhance safe, quality patient care. The goal is to continue to enhance and maintain a sustainable, qualified, engaged workforce with the skills, commitment, and values needed to support our Nursing organization now and for the years to come.  

 

You will: 

Operations and People Management 

  • Provide direction and leadership for MSK's Staffing Office, Centralized Support, and Clinical Staffing Committee. 
  • Share insights on industry breakthroughs and organizational trends related to scheduling and staffing, in addition to issues, new developments, and tactics in recruitment, deployment, and retention.  
  • Formulate changes to improve staffing and scheduling system based on data and feedback from staff and management.  
  • Monitors Staffing Office performance and ensures a high degree of customer satisfaction with Staffing Office services and staff. 
  • Works with departmental leadership to ensure congruency in resource allocation and quality outcomes for patients and staff.  
  • Understands contractual and regulatory requirements while advancing the needs of the organization; including requirements for supplemental staff, maintenance of files, and licensure process for all professionals.  
  • Advocates and supports a healthy work environment focused on diversity, equality, inclusion, and belonging.  

Design and Implementation  

  • Redesigns staffing/scheduling structure and processes with leadership to support new care delivery models, that improve efficiency, effectiveness, operations, and outcomes.  
  • Collaborates on the process for establishing financial, workload, and other targets that guide projection of staffing budgets. 
  • Establishes and maintains position control structure and process. 
  • Provides leadership in the negotiation and implementation of contracts with supplemental staffing agencies in partnership with Talent Acquisition Group. 

Deployment and Management of Centralized Resource Staff 

  • Plans, budgets, and organizes MSK's flexible nursing supplemental staffing pool including flex and float staff in collaboration with unit and service line leadership to best utilize in-house staff as resources to limit and/or eliminate outside agency use as well as to decrease overtime and per diem usage.
