Job Title:     Project Lead

Reports to: VP North America Sales Area

Department: NA SA

Location:     Nogales, Arizona    

Travel:         5 - 10% Out of office

Pay Status:  Exempt

Summary

The Project Lead is a results-driven professional with strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a track record in project management (5+ years). Responsible for overseeing Normet’s obligations under the South32 Hermosa Project, this role ensures delivery within timeline and budget. Collaborating with the Account and Branch Managers, customers, and local stakeholders, the Project Lead manages project execution, schedules, safety, quality, and compliance with key performance indicators (KPIs).

Key Responsibilities Include:

HSEQ – Health Safety Environment and Quality

  • Maintains focus on safety in planning and implements processes in compliance with South 32, Normet local, state & federal requirements. Environmental and Quality policies, procedures, and objectives
  • Support adherence to MSHA legislation for all work performed by company employees.
  • Supports Normet’s HSEQ initiatives and ensures compliance in all activities.
  • Promote a strong safety culture, enforce use of PPE, SOP compliance and hazard reporting.

Operations

  • Works in close collaboration with the Account and Branch Manager to establish a suitable location for Normet’s Arizona facility within the Nogales area.
  • Prior to the start of the project, develops baselined schedule coordinating with the Account Manager, local and global teams to logically sequence all scope of work to be performed. Defnes key milestones.
  • Tracks and updates project progress and performance.
  • Fosters a culture of quality and integrates lessons learned into project plans.
  • Identifies risks and participates in risk mitigation to correct and recover.
  • Develops and implements continuous improvement plans.
  • Leads the change control process and implementation of change control requirements around scope, cost, schedule.
  • Monitors the change request, assessment, process, approval, and implementation.
  • Interface with the customer and project team to discuss impact of work and resolution of problems.
  • Ensures that the contractual KPIs are achieved (e.g. delivery schedule, local hiring criteria) and develops new or additional measures as a means of improving the quality and efficiency of the execution.
  • Project report preparation activities.
  • Reporting and presenting results in a clear and concise manner.

 Financials

  • Manage project within approved financial targets.
  • Review and control costs regularly to continually improve contract cost efficiencies.
  • Produces and presents regular reports on the status of all contractual obligations, KPIs and assignments.
  • Develop and execute the sales plan profitably and with accountability.

Stakeholder Management

  • Foster a customer-first, solution-oriented culture.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Personal Responsibility

Qualifications and Experience:

Required

  • 5+ years of project management experience, ideally in heavy industry or mining.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency, especially Excel and MS Project.
  • Proven ability to manage cross-functional teams and complex projects.

Preferred

  • Experience in underground mining or construction.
  • ERP system experience.
  • PMP certification or direct project management experience
