Your impact:

Elle Magazine is searching for an editorial assistant to work across platforms, helping with news and assisting our social media manager with content creation and management. Primary responsibilities include writing celebrity news stories, explainers, and updating social feeds. The ideal candidate is a quick, clean writer with a great attitude who is as comfortable working with TikTok videos and Instagram captions as they are researching a reported piece and updating an existing story. This role reports to the Senior News & Strategy Editor.

What you'll do:

  • Write at least 3 pieces a day, with an emphasis on celebrity news and evergreen stories
  • Help the news team aggregate data from Google Trends to drive SEO strategy
  • Update our Facebook management tools daily with new stories
  • Write Instagram and TikTok captions
  • Share content on TikTok regularly
  • Occasionally attend events to film social content and support various editorial initiatives

Who you are:

  • A strong writer who is organized and able to fact-check
  • A proven ability to receive, digest, and implement editorial feedback
  • Able to hit deadlines 100 percent of the time in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
  • Experience with SEO best practices and/or the ability to quickly learn and utilize Google Analytics and other data-analyzing tools
  • A multitasker with a desire to learn how a major media brand operates across teams and platforms
  • A team player who is proactive, organized, enthusiastic, deadline-oriented, and willing to pitch in whenever needed
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, or other relevant area
  • One or two internships with an editorial or fashion brand, preferably in digital media

This role requires the position to be located in New York, NY with an in-office presence of 3 days a week.

The base salary for this role is $60,000 annually. The actual base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as: transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
